The Town Class Sloop was originally designed in 1931 and built by the Pert Lowell Company in Newbury Massachusetts.
The Landing School is the official builder of the Town Class sloop, now built of modern wood construction.
Planking is lap-glued marine grade Meranti plywood, the bottom is cold molded wood and the frames are laminated, rather than sawn. This results in a lightweight, stiff and durable boat. Frames and structural members are made of Douglas Fir. The coamings and seats are made of Sipo Mahogany and the spars are made of Sitka Spruce.
The Town Class sailboat is a competitive racer or simply a great stable family day sailer, suitable for fresh water or salt.
